Borrow artworks for just £4 per month
Leeds Art Gallery Picture Lending Scheme was established in 1961 as a way for people to enjoy original works of art in the privacy of their own homes. Since then, the collection has grown to over six hundred works and it is still growing. There are oils, watercolours, drawings, photographs and a variety of prints available for loan; Whether you like landscapes or abstracts, Henrie Matisse or Henry Moore, there is something to suit every taste.
How does it work?
It couldn’t be easier, once you have signed up to the scheme just come along to one of our special selection days, choose a work and take it away that day. A small hire fee is payable when you take the work away and you can keep the work for three months. On the selection
days you will be able to learn more about the artworks, meet art gallery staff and also get involved in family activities.
How much does it cost?
There is no membership or joining fee, you pay for what you borrow.
£4 per month for one artwork and then £2 per month for any additional works. Loans of artworks are for a minimum period of three months.
How to become a Member
Becoming a member is simple. You sign up in person at one of our selection days that are held four times a year.
When joining the Picture Lending Scheme you will need to provide photographic identification (i.e. your passport or driving licence) and proof of address. All works are insured by Leeds City Council, but standard charges may apply for damage or loss.
