Artisits at work at the Art GalleryCelebrating lifelong learning, the statutory education service at Leeds Art Gallery is designed to meet curricula needs, stimulating creativity and enquiry and making links between art and everyday life. We aim for all to use and enjoy the Gallery's building, exhibitions and collections and organise compelling learning experiences inside and outside of the Gallery.

Group Leaders are especially welcome to ask for support in maximising learning opportunities for each key stage.

We offer:

a Studio including materials and equipment

Consultation and support:Ideas, information, curricula advice, artist contacts and health and safety information

Themed Idea-files, Resources: available as loan and useful for visit preparation and follow-up

a Primaryand a High School Teachers Pack:Information, themes and photocopiable activity sheets with visit preparation and follow-up suggestions

Themed Gallery Introductions : an interactive experience presenting collection artworks as starting points for further activity

Programme of workshops for Primary and High Schools :advertised in the Treasury of Learning and delivered by Gallery staff/freelance artists to enhance and enrich curricula delivery. A range of subject experiences, including Enquiry skills, Citizenship and Literacy, are on offer. Outreach workshops are available with bookings from the Treasury. Themed Workshops led by artists: linked to temporary exhibitions aiming to explore exciting ideas and creative practice

KS3 or Sixth Form Portfolio/Study Days :a workshop to think and act as artists and thinkers working creatively and intelligently with traditional or new media and developing critical understanding. Workshops can be organised to meet the needs of most curriculum subjects, making links across learning experiences and subjects.

Long Term Projects : taking place over a number of weeks in and outside of the Gallery, these have addressed agenda including Aim Higher, Extended services, Gifted and Talented and Art Mark or have been used to meet school needs

Work Experience Placement Scheme

CPD for Teachers: Seasons of special Gallery staff or artist-led workshops, and individual workshops like 'Using the Gallery as a Resource', 'Artworks as Starting Points for Learning' and 'Exhibition Introduction'.
