Art on the Mat

Each holiday, our colourful Mat and Art Trolley is set up in a different Gallery space. Activities inspired by the Gallery collections, invite young people and their carers to get involved in the Gallery, thinking about and making things in new and interesting ways.

This activity is available for young people over five and their carers to enjoy anytime whilst the Gallery is open, on set days and times. Animateurs are on hand to help and the activity is free.

The STRANGE AND UNUSUAL on Art on the Mat

March 20 – April 6 2008

Inspired by our especially thought-provoking artworks, get involved in an activity that explores the ‘strange and unusual’.

There is a trail to explore the Gallery and a load of collage materials to make artwork based on reactions or ideas that others have left behind. Assistants are on hand on selected days to help.  Come along and have fun!

ArtSpace

ArtSpace is special place in the Gallery for families to relax in and use different senses and experiences to spark off exploration of art and everyday life.

Designed to tempt, tease and excite, ArtSpace has special furniture, kit and things to explore and do linked to the Gallery and its amazing collections. This time the focus is mark-making, but it is not just about drawing as you might expect. Come along and find out more!

Open every day, every week from May 2008.
