Sheltered Housing

Single Image Display
Sheltered Housing is accommodation for people over 60 (or 55+ with assessed needs) which is safe and secure and which helps elderly tenants to live independently, with privacy and dignity. A visiting service is provided Monday- Friday but can be tailored to your needs such as phone calls if you choose.  Our sheltered schemes range from purpose-built accommodation, studio flats and bungalows to multi-storey flats.

Most of our schemes have a communal area where residents and tenants living nearby can gather for social events such as coffee mornings and a range of activities. Each of our Sheltered Schemes has a communal laundry with at least one washing machine and tumble drier, there is also a communal kitchen for use by the residents.

All of our sheltered accommodation is fitted with an ‘alarm’ connected through to Care Ring, a 24-hour, seven days a week emergency service.

The schemes are designed so you can keep your independence, with a range of services aimed at giving you control over your life.

Available Sheltered Housing is advertised on the Leeds Homes Website (www.leedshomes.org.uk).

Does a Scheme Manager have to visit me regularly in my home?

When you move into sheltered accommodation you can choose whether you would like the Scheme Manager service to suit your circumstances, up to a maximum of five days a week.

Scheme Managers will visit you on each day that you have requested. If you know that you will be out when your Scheme Manager is due to call, you will need to let either a Scheme Manager or the Care Ring Response Centre know.

If you do not require a visit, you will be asked to complete a No Visit form. However, you can change your mind at a later date. If this is the case, please contact us to let us know at the earliest opportunity.

Do I have any responsibilities as a tenant?

Advise a Scheme Manager when you are staying out overnight, going on holiday, or going into hospital or respite care.

You can contact the Care Ring Response Centre and leave a message or ask a neighbour to tell your Scheme Manager.
