Adaptations are alterations to your home to help make life easier for you if identified as a need by Social Services.
Once we receive a recommendation from Social Services, our surveyor may need to visit to check if the property is suitable for adaptation. This will happen within 10 working days.
Next stages:
- We notify our contractor of the work required.
- Our contractor will visit and explain the work and timescales.
Our aim is to ensure adaptation work is completed within 7 months which is the Government's recommendation. However, most work is completed well within this time. Some work, of course, may take longer if an extension is required to the property and planning permission is needed.
We need your cooperation to make sure the work runs as smoothly as possible. The team of surveyors and fitters are always happy to answer any queries you may have in regards to the work being carried out.
Prior to our contractors arriving at your home and work beginning, personal belongings need removing from the work area. Items you should remove would include crockery, food, utensils, curtains, rugs and other belongings including free standing furniture depending on the adaptation.
If you are unable to move these items, and you do not have a family member able to help you with this, please let us know before work starts, and we will do this for you.
ID Cards!
DO NOT let anyone into your home if they cannot show you their ID badge for any reason. An official looking letter is not proof of identification.
