Inner ring road essential maintenance scheme

Leeds City Council has been successful in a bid for funding from the Department for Transport in order to carry out major works to three structures on the Leeds Inner Ring Road.

The first two parts of the wider scheme are currently progressing and details can be found on the websites:

The third and largest package of works to Woodhouse Tunnel is currently in the design stage with site works programmed to take place between 2013 and 2015.  Details of this scheme can be found on the website: www.leeds.gov.uk/wtp2

We are bidding for funding from the Department for Transport to repair structures on the Inner Ring Road.

This extensive and high priority repair work is in excess of our available budget.

The A58M/A64M section of Leeds Inner Ring Road is of major importance to our road network and the economy of Leeds.

Proposed work will include maintenance to Woodhouse Tunnel, Lovell Park Road Bridge and New York Road Viaduct Eastbound.

The road was constructed in the late 1960s and early 1970s and there are 23 highway structures on its two mile length - two road tunnels, 17 bridges and four footbridges.
