Highways Maintenance Policy

Part 1: The Policy Statement provides a definition of the Highway Maintenance service standards.  It describes the highway asset as it was during the time period that the statement covers and addresses how work was identified, prioritised and managed.

Part 2: The Highway Maintenance Plan describes how the Highway Maintenance policy was implemented during the time period that the plan covers. The plan takes account of the works budget and staff resources available and identifies works prioritisation and programming arrangements.

Part 3: The progress report section reviews achievements over previous years in terms of expenditure and outputs and their impact on the condition of the highway. It includes information on performance measurement using national and local performance indicators, management information and public liaison and identifies progress and future initiatives for continual improvement.
