Powered two wheelers (motorcyclists) form a disproportionate amount of the killed and seriously injured road traffic casualty statistics in Leeds. Riders of powered two wheeled vehicles are statistically the most vulnerable road users; being more likely to be killed or injured than any other road user, including pedestrians and pedal cyclists.
With the number of powered two wheelers on the increase a road safety officer has been appointed in Leeds specifically to look at the issues affecting this group, in an effort to reduce the casualty rates currently being experienced.
Amongst other things, he will be looking at how the National Motorcycle Strategy impacts upon us all and we can progress this strategy in Leeds.
