The road safety promotion unit is responsible for the development and delivery of road safety education, training and publicity throughout Leeds.
Education - We plan and deliver lessons to pupils in both primary and secondary schools across the district covering a wide range of road safety related topics. We also provide educational resources to the general public in the form of booklets, leaflets, brochures etc. and provide information and advice about all aspects of road safety.
Training - We provide a variety of training courses ranging from child pedestrian and cycle training to in-car safety training for health professionals i.e. Midwives and Health Visitors.
Publicity - We plan and deliver most of our publicity and promotional work according to the Department for Transport, "THINK! Road Safety", publicity campaign calendar. We also attend at local galas, fun days, community events etc. and have two mascots, one called "KERBY" and the other called "SPIKE", both are road safety hedgehogs, who regularly makes appearances at such events and in primary schools.
Road Safety Newsletter - 'Street Smart' Road Safety news for Primary Schools - contains news and information about cycle and pedestrian training programmes, resources and school travel plans. The newsletter is available as download below.
