Moth Magic - Tues, 24th July (10am to 12pm)

Discover moths at Thwaite by helping empty our moth trap with Yorkshire Naturalists' Union.

Pirate Treasure Hunt - Tues, 24th July (1pm to 3pm)

Make your own Pirate's hat and explore our island, solve the clues to claim your Pirate's treasure.

See our scotch derrick steam crane in action. 

Rocket Power - Tues, 31st July (1pm to 3pm)

Did you know Thwaite Mills supplied the oil to Stevensons’ Rocket? Have a go at making your own rocket train.

August 

See the steam crane in operation - Thurs, 2nd August (10am)

See our scotch derrick steam crane in action.  Take a guided tour around the 19th century watermill, visit the drying sheds and warehouse and see the engineer's workshop.

Moth Trap releasing - Tues, 7th August (10am to 12pm)

Discover moths at Thwaite by helping empty our moth trap with Yorkshire Naturalists' Union.  Drop-in event for everyone!

Bug Hunt - Tues, 7th August (1pm to 3pm)

Hunt for bugs in our museum grounds, identifying them as you go with the help of our curator. 

Family Bushcraft - Weds 8th, 15th and 22nd August (9:30am to 1:30pm)

Have fun learning practical skills outdoors.  Workshop for older children, £10 per child.  Booking is required, please contact (0113) 214 1914.

Canal Boat Art - Tues, 14th August (1pm to 3pm)

Learn about the beautiful folk art and have a go yourself.

Teddy Bears Picnic - Sun, 19th August (11:30am to 3:30pm)

Fun day out for all the family with our teddy bears picnic.  Best dressed teddy competion, teddy trail, craft fair, boat rides and much, much more!

Mystery at the Mill - Tues, 21st August (1pm to 3pm)

Someone has stolen a load of putty can you work out whodunit?

Pond Dipping - Tues, 28th August (1pm to 3pm)

Drop-in event for older children.  Have a go at pond dipping and learn about the minibeasts that live in our pond.
