Welcome to Thwaite Mills Watermill Museum where visitors can experience the power and force of a fully restored working watermill on a tour of this fascinating site. Nestled on a tranquil ‘island’ between the River Aire and the Aire and Calder Navigation, Thwaite Mills is one of the best last remaining examples of a water-powered mill in Britain.
Visits to Thwaite are pre-bookable and visitors are taken on a tour of the site by an experienced guide. On the tour you will see the mills, waterwheels, industrial machinery, the engineers workshops, the riverbanks, wildlife and take a trip back in time to find out what life was like at this uniquely preserved site in the1940s. A great day out for visitors of all ages.
