Keeping your local Assets local

On the 21st September 2012 Government launched Community Right to Bid which gives communities the opportunity to nominate and ultimately bid for property that is of social value to them.  This could be the local post office, pub, children’s centre or recreation ground etc.

The process for nominating a property is straightforward and if it is eligible, the council must place it on the ‘List of Assets of Community Value’.  Once listed, the owner of a property can’t sell it without giving six months notice, to allow interested local community organisations the opportunity to put forward a bid to buy it.

Community right to Bid is administered by the Asset Management Service.  For further details about making a nomination or how this legislation could affect you, please visit our web page at or email us at
