Summer Bands in Leeds parks
The 2008 series of Summer Band Concerts in Leeds Parks on Sunday afternoons visit 22  parks in an 85-strong season of concerts featuring over 40 bands from the region’s finest brass, jazz and concert bands.

Classical Fantasia
If ever an event lived up to its name it’s Classical Fantasia, with its astonishing fantasy-inspired music, fireworks and light show against the breathtaking backdrop of Kirkstall Abbey.

Leeds half marathon
The  Gaz de France Leeds Half Marathon plus 1.5 mile family fun run, Sunday September 7th 2008.

Leeds Town Hall Celebrates 150th Birthday
Leeds Town Hall celebrates its 150th birthday on September 7th, with the anniversary set to be marked with two weeks of special events.

Treeathlon at Temple Newsam
Registration for the second 2008 Leeds Tree Athlon is now open. The event takes place on Sunday September 28th 2008 at Temple Newsam Estate.  Get involved in this exciting event to support Trees for Cities projects, which will help alleviate traffic pollution, beautify the urban landscape and give something back to the local communities in the Leeds area.

Morley Literature Festival
This year the Morley Literature Festival will take place 13th - 19th October 2008.

Rothwell 600 Festival
Rothwell celebrates the 600th anniversary of the granting of its Royal Charter in February 2008. The Rothwell art exhibition is unique for the town and launches the festivities. Other events lined up for the year include a schools’ triathlon, street banners, the biggest May Day and Carnival celebrations in memory, Carlton Show, a horticultural show, a major music concert in the Parish Church, a mass fun walk around Oulton Hall Park, an orienteering event for schools, community events around the traditional Rothwell area.

Farmers market
The Farmers market is held at Leeds Kirkgate open market, George Street (next to the bus station) on every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, from 09:00 to 14:00.

Bright Young Things
Each year, the best musical talent in Leeds is asked to step forward and submit demos for the Bright Young Things (BYT) project.

With an annual programme encompassing classical, jazz, world music, brass and folk, the award-winning Leeds International Concert Season is a feast for fans of all kinds of live music.

Leeds International Pianoforte competition 
The Leeds International Pianoforte Competition was founded by Marion Thorpe, Fanny Waterman and Geoffrey de Keyser in 1963. The 16th Leeds International Pianoforte Competition will be held between 26 August - 13 September 2009.
