The Leeds- Brno Partnership continues to thrive in 2010. A programme of exchange of best practice projects, educational exchanges and business opportunities are planned.
Business still matters
Business opportunities in Brno are promoted through the CEBN business network (the Central and Eastern Europe Business Network). In July 2008 the Czech Ambassador, H.E. Jan Winkler came to Leeds to speak at a ‘Doing Business in the Czech Republic’ seminar which was attended by representatives from over 50 local companies.
This year the CEBN will organise a trade mission for local businesses to attend the annual MSV engineering fair in Brno. MSV is the largest technological fair in Central Europe and businesses have the opportunity to attend pre-arranged meetings with exhibitors and companies from across Central Europe from the engineering sector.
Education exchange
Leeds and Brno have participated in European funded educational projects. Four primary and seven secondary schools, the University of Leeds and Brno's Masaryk University, have signed an agreement to take part in a European funded Erasmus project. Students from Brno take part in the Breeze International Festival and a Leeds group have participated in the Christmas Bridges Festival in Brno.
Travel and tourism students from Leeds Metropolitan University represent the city of Leeds each year by organising a Leeds tourism stall at the Region Tour and Go! Tourism Fair in Brno.
