Official race charity
We are very pleased to have Andrea’s Gift as our official charity. Andrea’s Gift was founded in 2003 and has raised over £700,000 to support people affected by brain tumours in Yorkshire, primarily those who have received treatment through the Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
Brain tumours are considered rare compared to other cancers, but the surgical and oncology teams in Leeds alone see over 600 adults and 25 children each year as newly diagnosed patients. Sadly, around 20% of patients are diagnosed with the most aggressive tumours and will die within 12 months. Frighteningly, due to a lack of research, brain tumours now kill more children than leukaemia.
