To mark the end of the Beijing Paralympics and London officially becoming the next host city for the 2012 Games, a range of disabled sports were demonstrated by local disabled sportspeople in Millennium Square on Wednesday 17th  September.

Eight teams from amateur clubs and businesses competed every Monday evening over a ten week programme. The standard of playing ability ranged from excellent 'Touch Rugby' knowledge to determined commitment.

Leeds Sports Development and Leeds School Sports Partnerships delivered three 'Identifying Ability' days. Part of a Youth Sport Trust Scheme the events invites disabled young people with an 'interest or flair for sport' to come and try a range of sporting activities.

Asian Youth Badminton Tournament.
July 26th 2008 at the John Charles Centre for Sport . The Event, organised jointly with the Asian Youth Association and the Sports Development Unit  went exceptionally well with 60 competitors from 11 different nationality backgrounds taking part.

 

 

Leeds city tag rugby festival
Leeds City Schools Tag Rugby Finals 2008
The finest year 5 and 6 schools rugby team in Leeds was discovered in a major competition held at the John Charles Centre for Sport  Leeds. Mixed teams made up of 10 and 11year olds from 24 schools from all over the city battled it out on Wednesday June 18th in the Leeds Schools Tag Rugby Finals.

The 10th annual tournament was held at Thomas Danby Community Campus on Sunday 15th June 2008. The event itself was very well attended by 180 participants and a large number of spectators.

Girls Outdoor Activity Event at Leeds Sailing and Activity Centre
The full day event was a huge success and involved over 60 girls aged 13-15 years, from 5 Leeds secondary schools across the city. This was despite the poor weather conditions, as it rained all day, but the enthusiasm and commitment of the girls was excellent throughout.
