Would you like to learn more about computers and the internet?
We offer learning sessions in all of our libraries. The sessions are designed to help you get the most out of the computers in the library. All sessions are free, and you can sign up just by contacting the library of your choice.
What sessions are available?
Our learning offer is set out in the "Learn in the library" booklet available to download from this page.
We can show you how to use a computer, how to search the internet and how to sign-up for an e-mail account. Once you've mastered the basics, we have more advanced sessions to show you some of the other things you can do.
The mouse symbols and mini-guides in the booklet will help you choose the right session for you. But if you’re still not sure, talk to the library staff who will be happy to help you choose the right one.
What if I can’t find a suitable session?
All libraries offer extra sessions to add to those in the learning plan. Many of these supported sessions are arranged on a one-to-one basis. You can book some time with a librarian who will help you with your computer questions. So if you can’t find the perfect learning session for you, try a supported session and learn exactly what you want to learn.
What if I need more help?
To help people who might have difficulties using standard computer software, we have a range of helpful alternatives. Some assistive technology is available in every library – this technology includes screen readers, a trackball to take the place of a mouse, big-key keyboards and larger monitors.
