Former Yorkshire PC turned author, Mike Pannett, will be visiting Moor Allerton Library to talk about his new book 'You're Coming With Me Lad'.  Mike served nearly 20 years in the police force during which time he served in intelligence gathering, the murder squad and drug seizures.  In 1997 Mike transferred to his beloved North Yorkshire where he became a rural beat officer and, eventually, a wildlife officer.  In 2005 he starred in 26 episodes of the BBC's Country Cops and was inspired to write a book about his adventures in the North Yorkshire force.

Libraries Change Lives award:  short-list announced

Leeds Library and Information Service has made it to the final short-list for CILIP's Libraries Change Lives award.  Our project, Across the Board: autism support for families, is up against two other projects.  More information about the award and the other projects on the short-list on the CILIP website.  More information about our support for families of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders.  The CILIP Marketing channel on Youtube is showing a video about our project.

The winner of the award will be announced by the Chair of the Museums Libraries and Archives Council, Andrew Motion, on 15 July 2009 at CILIP's biennial Umbrella 2009 conference, held at The DeHavilland Campus, University of Herfordshire in Hatfield.
