The Parks and Countryside Rangers run free environmental education sessions for primary school children in their local parks and green spaces.  In 2009 we have worked with over 2500 school children so far.

Ranger-led sessions offer a fun way to learn about local habitats, plants and animals, through activities such as pond dipping and minibeast hunting.  The sessions can open young eyes to the wonders of the great outdoors and give children an understanding of how they can protect wildlife in the future.

To arrange a session, or to talk to us about these and other activities for children please contact us on countrysiderangers@leeds.gov.uk or 0113 237 5320. You can also download a pdf our education leaflet from the right hand side of this page.

The ranger team have also produced a free educational resource called The Outdoor Classroom - you can download it in sections as pdfs from the right hand side of this page, or if you would like us to send you a free copy on disk, just get in touch using the details above.

At the bottom right hand side of the page you can find links to some great websites where you can get more great ideas of activities to do with children in the outdoors.
