Events
Over 600 city-wide and community events are held in parks, from Party and Opera in the Park, the Mela and Classical Fantasia to local bonfires, brass band concerts, fun runs and educational activities.
If you would like to host an event in a park such as a sponsored walk, community gala or funfair you can download and complete the Parks and Countryside’s event application form on the right hand side of this page.
You can also contact Parks and Countryside Head Office main reception on 0113 395 7400. It is staffed from 8am - 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8am - 4pm on a Friday. Outside of these hours you can leave a message on the answerphone.
Good practice safety guide for events
You can download advice from the Home Office that will help to ensure safety at public events from this page.
The guidance sets out good practice advice for organisers of carnivals, charity and small-scale sporting events and has been designed to ensure that such events are as safe as possible for the public and participants.
The guide is not intended to take the place of a detailed event safety code issued by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) but to act as an easily accessible tool to help plan and produce events.
Firework safety
The firework safety advice website gives year-round information about firework legislation and using fireworks safely.
