The 16th Leeds International Pianoforte Competition will be held between 26 August - 13 September 2009.
The 15th competition which took place between 6th - 24th September 2006 marked the forty-third anniversary of the inauguration of the Leeds International Pianoforte Competition founded by Marion Thorpe, Fanny Waterman and Geoffrey de Keyser in 1963.
Many of its prize winners such as Murray Perahia, Radu Lupu, Dmitri Alexeev, Mitsuko Uchida, Andras Schiff, Michel Dalberto, John Kimura Parker and Artur Pizarro have, as a result of winning "The Leeds", gone on to make successful worldwide careers.
The competition is open to professional pianists of all nationalities who were born on or after 1st September 1973.
