What is Holocaust Memorial Day?
Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) is the international day of remembrance for the victims of the Holocaust and of other genocides. It takes place on 27 January, which is the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
Leeds always marks the occasion with a commemorative event of its own, organised by the Arts and Regeneration Unit, and normally held on the nearest Sunday to the official HMD date.
More information about HMD can be found on the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust website.
For enquiries about the Leeds event, please contact the Senior Arts and Regeneration Officer on (0113) 247 8234 or arts@leeds.gov.uk
