Breezereads is a Leeds City Council scheme that aims to encourage young people to read more, improve their literacy skills and aspirations and provoke discussion and debate about books and reading.
It offers young people an exciting series of book related activities and events, including film screenings, masterclasses with famous authors and online review forums. Michael Morpurgo, Frank Cottrell Boyce, Darren Shan, Louise Rennison, Melvin Burgess and Mark Morris are among the many famous authors that Breezereads has recently brought to Leeds.
Breezereads supports ‘Reading for Life’, a national campaign to create a reading culture in England and specifically to engage those people who need help with reading or think reading’s not for them.
Breezereads also has its own category for 14-16 year olds at the Leeds Book Awards (LBA). To find out more, visit the LBA website.
