Vine at West Leeds courses promote effective learning of everyday skills through students' agreed learning aims and timetable. We accept applications from any adult with learning disabilities, and at any age. Students can come on a part time or full time basis, whichever suits their individual needs.
The development of effective communication is constantly encouraged throughout the student's daily educational experiences, as appropriate to each student's understanding and ability. We have several staff who are trained in intensive interaction, and this approach is used wherever it is appropriate.
We adopt a reflective, flexible approach to teaching, which includes working with, or alongside others.
Examples of the types of modules offered are:
- Art

We encourage close contact with parents and carers by the use of daily diaries, telephone calls, regular reviews and meetings, etc., as part of the process of creating a supportive and welcoming educational environment.
We maintain strong links with other agencies and professionals wherever appropriate, such as social workers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, college lecturers, psychologists, voluntary sector workers.
Links with other community provision include the use of the local leisure centre, bodyline gym, Access physio-gym, local cafés and Hollybush Farm, the West Leeds Family Learning Centre computer workshops and catering kitchen, and Adult Training Centres.
