The origins of the Hammonds Saltaire Band can be traced back to 1855 when Sir Titus Salt formed the Saltaire Band as a leisure activity for the workers in his model village. After many years of success as the Hammonds Sauce Works Band, under the legendary Geoffrey Whitham, the present day ensemble carries the names of both important parts of its history.
