The NHS Employability Project began in 1999, as a partnership between Leeds NHS Trust and the Jobs and Skills Service. It offers local unemployed people (subject to Jobs and Skills eligibility) the opportunity to train for work at entry level as Clerical Administrators or Nursing Assistants in a care environment.
Since its inception, the programme has supported over 650 people back into work from the local community. In 2006, the project won the Big Difference Public Sector Award for its contribution in helping to change people’s lives and communities. In 2007, it received a ‘Highly Commended’ in the ethnicity category of the Equality and Diversity Champions 2007: Yorkshire and Humber Awards, funded by the Learning and Skills Council.
Information sessions are held regularly throughout the year for the training programmes which include a work experience placement within a care environment. This is your opportunity to find out more about the:
- basic administration or nursing duties you would carry out
- training in preparation for your work placement
- skills and qualifications you can gain
- support with jobsearch
