Terry Yorath House is a residential home that provides accommodation for 10 disabled residents, and also provides two respite beds used by up to 14 disabled people during the year.
The Disabilities Trust manages Terry Yorath House as a 'joint venture' with the Department.
Currently we are running a project to improve the accommodation at Terry Yorath House.
There are three distinct stages we need to go through:
1. Consultation
2. Implementation
3. Monitor the re-provisioning
Consultation
We will involve residents, carers, respite care service users and a wider range of disabled stakeholders who may not have considered using the service. We need to:
1. Find out what service users want
2. Look at the opportunities and options
3. Agree the new scheme and service model
Options
We won't know what options there might be for improving services at Terry Yorath House until we've talked to everyone concerned but some possible options are:
Options for the building
- New-build a number of one or two-bed accessible flats designed for supported living and / or
- New-build group / staff flats that can be reconverted into individual flats as needs change.
Options for Support Services
- The council can commission (or re-commission) a care provider with a new service specification that meets the identified service user and carer needs for 24/7 support
- Individuals can choose to secure their care needs using direct payments and individualised budgets.
Our new target dates are:
- To have a report for Executive Board ready by November 2007. This report will enable the Board to note the changes required and decide how those changes are to be made.
The project plan is attached to this page along with questions and answers about the Terry Yorath Project, and the amended draft consultation report.
