The existing district centre at Holt Park was built in the 1970s and accommodates a range of local services many of which are well-used by the community. However, it is unattractive and the buildings and facilities are out of date. Leeds City Council undertook public consultation during January and February 2007 on the emerging concept plans for the regeneration of the district centre, including the former site of Ralph Thoresby High School.
The new building for Ralph Thoresby High School on its new site opened in September 2007 and discussions are also underway about the potential provision of a new replacement leisure centre.
Leeds City Council currently considering plans for the future redevelopment of the District Centre and will undertake further public consultation on more detailed development plans in the future.
