This document describes our performance, details the further progress we have made in the last year and sets out our future plans. Our approach is illustrated through the themes of our environmental policy.
With over 14,000 full-time staff* (and an additional 1024 in Education Leeds) performing a wide range of activities and services we are continually seeking ways to reduce our impact on the environment and to improve our performance. Using EMAS to underpin our commitment to the environmental priorities contained in the Council’s new Corporate Plan (2005 – 2008) shows how we are determined to lead by example in improving the environmental quality of the city. The Vision for Leeds (2004 – 2020) sees the city as one with a reputation for environmental excellence. EMAS helps us to achieve this by taking a robust approach to service planning, improvement and measuring our performance.
