Leeds City Council services
Education Leeds and Leeds City Council encourage schools to adopt 'green' travel plans which aim to reduce the environmental impact of the school run. Plans include establishing secure cycle parking, safer, traffic-free routes, walking-bus schemes and the provision of new 'yellow-bus' services.

Leeds City Council activities
Education Leeds is responsible for providing a wide range of support to 272 schools in raising educational standards. 266 of these now participate in the Healthy Schools' standard which aims to improve health and well-being. Schools take a holistic approach to the school environment and may consider issues such as biodiversity, energy and travelling to and from school.
