Q How do I find out if planning permission is required for a mineral, waste or recycling activity?
A Either write to the address below describing the activity, e-mail your enquiry or telephone. Please see below.

Q How do I submit an application for a minerals, waste or recycling proposal?
A Complete the application form by following the guidance note (all forms are available for download through the links on this page). Take five copies of it plus the plans to the Development Department (or post it to us). A planning application fee will also be required (details of the appropriate fee can be found in the links on this page).

Q How do I get to see a minerals or waste application or to check its status?
A For about a month after submission an application can normally be seen at a designated local library. It can also be seen at the council’s offices in Rossington Street at any time the office is open. To check its status ring or send us an email.

Q How do I appeal against a mineral or waste planning decision?
A Only applicants have the right to appeal against refusal of planning permission.

Q How do I make a comment on a current planning application?
A Quote the application number and write or email your comments to the address below. Oral comments cannot be taken into account. Remember, only comments relevant to the actual proposal can be considered and your comments can be seen by anyone looking at the application file.

Q How do I report or enquire about a possible infringement at an existing site or about something going on that I don’t think has permission?
A Write to the council, send an email or telephone us. If the possible offence sounds serious we will investigate immediately. Otherwise it will be done within 10 working days.

Q How do I find out if a site or activity is the subject of enforcement action already?
A E-mail, telephone or write to us.

Q How do I arrange for a planning officer to visit a site?
A See the previous answer for possible offences. In the case of an operator wanting a site meeting telephone the number below and request a meeting.
