The Local Development Framework  is not a single plan but the name given to a portfolio of local development documents.

Local development documents are generally of two types, development plan documents (DPDs) and supplementary planning documents (SPDs).

In Leeds, development plan documents, which are subject to examination in public by an inspector, include:

• a core strategy, which sets out the vision, spatial strategies and core policies,
• 'thematic' policies, eg. waste
• area action plans, where needed in key areas of change, and
• a proposals map (being developed)
