The Structural Engineering section provides a specialist service in relation to the council's property portfolio. This service includes design, detailing, contract administration and site supervision of a wide range of new and existing buildings.

The team are experienced in carrying out site appraisals for site feasibility and development studies.

The section also carry out detailed structural surveying work to assist property maintenance and valuation, to investigate causes of material or building failures and to assess building structures prior to purchase, sale or change of use.

The section provides the council's building control design checking service to ensure that all building regulations submissions meet current standards.

The structural engineering team have extensive experience of the council's diverse building portfolio, including schools, libraries, housing (traditional construction, system built, low rise and high rise), social services buildings, and the many civic and historic buildings in the city.

The team is highly responsive, innovative and cost effective.
