Copies of advisory notes for complying with mandatory HMO licences

We have produced advisory notes on how to comply with the licence conditions attached to the five different licence versions. The following advisory notes have been designed to be read along with the mandatory HMO licences:

  • Category A house in multiple occupation
  • Category B with 5-6 occupiers house in multiple occupation
  • Category B with habitable basement house in multiple occupation
  • Category B with 7+ occupiers house in multiple occupation
  • Category B back to back property with habitable basement

Please note that the amenity standards detailed in the advisory notes have since been amended following the introduction of The Licensing and Management of Houses in Multiple Occupation (Additional Provisions) (England) Regulations 2007.  These regulations came into force on the 1 October 2007. The following advisory notes should therefore be read in conjunction with the Revised Amenity Standards factsheet, which is downloadable on the right hand side of this page.
