If you are a council tenant your tenancy agreement says that you are responsible for looking after your garden. This means that you must make sure your garden is tidy and does not become overgrown or a nuisance for your neighbours.
Communal and shared areas
The three ALMOs in Leeds are responsible for looking after after communal grass verges, shrubs, footpaths and hedges on our council estates. They will keep them tidy, and remove weeds and litter and work with other agencies to look after these areas.
In some parts of the city there are estate caretakers who can help older and disabled tenants with their garden. To find out more about these services please contact your local housing office or one-stop centre.
