Council houses in Leeds are managed by three arms length management organisations (ALMOs) and one tenant management organisation.
The Almos are responsible for
- your local housing office;
- collecting rent from council tenants;
- managing your estate;
- letting council homes;
- inspecting and arranging day-to-day repairs on council homes;
- managing and arranging the modernisation and improvement of council homes in each area;
- dealing with breaches of tenancy
- consulting council tenants;
- making sure that tenants have a say in the future of their area; and
- employing staff.
Leeds City Council is responsible for:
- owning council homes;
- setting rents;
- housing benefits;
- dealing with your ‘Right to Buy’ your council home;
- monitoring how well each ALMO performs;
- setting future housing policies; and
- setting future lettings policies
