If you or someone you care for is unable to carry out everyday tasks or live safely at home without support, there are various ways we can help.
To use most of the services listed below, you’ll need to call us on 0113 222 4401 to arrange a community care assessment. In the assessment, we will discuss the difficulties you are having and work together to assess your needs. Read more about having an assessment.
Safety equipment and alarms
Alarms, sensors and other equipment can be provided to help you or someone you care for live more independently and safely at home. You also have access to these services if you live in sheltered or extra care housing. Read more about emergency alarms and safety equipment
Equipment and adaptations to help you live at home
We can provide daily living and nursing equipment to help you live independently in your own home. You may also need to consider physical changes to your home, e.g. handrails or stairlifts, to make it more suitable for your needs – these are called adaptations.
Paying for equipment, alarms and adaptations
Most equipment is provided free on loan, and home adaptations that cost less than £1000 are free. Read more about paying for equipment, alarms and adaptations.
Moving to a more suitable home
If you have health or mobility problems and your current home does not meet your needs, our Medical Housing team can advise you about moving to a more suitable home (known as ‘re-housing’). Read more about re-housing. For further information, you can phone the Medical Housing team on 0113 395 2562, or drop them an email.
