'i3' stands for 'inspire, include, improve' and is the name given to a 2-year project to improve day services in Leeds for people experiencing mental health difficulties. The project is looking at services provided by Social Services, the NHS and Voluntary agencies and is part of a wider programme of modernisation that is happening across the city.

Mental health day services
Day services include day centres, drop in centres, some mental health support groups in the community, self help groups and befriending schemes. We have a wide range of day services and most people using them seem to be fairly happy with what they provide.

But it has been recognised for years that there are problems, such as:

  • many people get stuck in services
  • some people who need day services don’t find existing ones useful
  • the system is confusing and getting between or in and out of services is hard

A working group in Leeds, recommended that mental health day services needed to be modernised. Some funding has been made available to help local areas put these ideas into practice.

We want more people who have or are experiencing mental health difficulties to take part in all services and activities available to members of the public. If you have any ideas how we can achieve this or you would like to take a more active part, please let us know by phoning us on 0113 2476060 or 0113 2478690 or email us using the links on this page.
