Help to remain independent
The focus of Keeping House is helping people maintain their independence. We aim to do this through two routes: providing information on a range of services/support available across the city and through helping socially-minded services to develop. This two-sided approach has been at the core of the project since we began in 2005.
Information and support – Leeds Directory
Leeds Directory gives you the choice of over 1200 organisations and services that can support you to live independently. The Directory includes Quality Assured Domestic and Personal Care services including Cleaning, Gardening, Sitting and Shopping as well as a wide range of support services including Mental Health, Wellbeing, Social, Leisure and Community services. All of these services can be found online at www.leedsdirectory.org. You can also find out more about services in your area by calling the Helpline on 0113 391 8333 or via email (info@leedsdirectory.org).
Service development – Ideas That Change Lives
Keeping House aims to encourage the development of services to help people to live independently. Our current focus is on helping to develop services in line with the Personalisation agenda in adult social care. We want to encourage the development of services that are outcomes-focused, tailored to people’s individual needs and focused on prevention and increasing social inclusion. Through this work Keeping House aims to help:
- Older people
- People with physical or sensory impairments
- People with a learning disability
- People with mental health needs
