There are various services available to help you live as independently as possible in your own home.
Community support (home care)
We can help with personal care, for example, eating and drinking, washing and dressing, going to the toilet and taking medication.
If you have difficulty with daily tasks and would benefit from support to enable you to stay independent, help is available with practical domestic tasks, such as shopping, preparing food, and doing laundry and cleaning.
Meals on wheels
Meals can be home delivered to people who have difficulty preparing their own food. English, Asian, Afro-Caribbean, and meals to meet specialist dietary requirements are available.
Equipment, alarms and adaptations in the home
We can provide daily living and nursing equipment and safety alarms to help you live independently and safely in your own home. You may also need to consider adaptations to your home, for example, handrails or stairlifts, to make it more suitable for your needs.
Home-based respite breaks
There are various different types and lengths of respite break available for older people, people who have a physical disability, people with a learning disability and people with dementia.
The Social Care Family Placement Scheme can organise breaks in one of their carers’ family homes, or an approved carer can visit the person’s own home, giving regular carers a break either for a few hours, a day, or overnight.
