If you use direct payments and personal budgets you can now get advice and support from people who manage their own social care services.
The Personal Budgets Peer Support Group is an independent group of volunteers who all receive direct payments or personal budgets. The group is open to anyone on direct payments who would like to share their own experiences and provide support to others.
- Find out more about the group in the Peer Support Group flyer, available to download from this page
The Peer Support Group also runs a free, confidential telephone helpline - see below.
Personal Budgets Peer Support Service
A new helpline and website are available, run exclusively by service users who receive direct payments. People can ring up for advice, to share experiences or to be signposted to further information - and talk to someone familiar with what it's like to manage one's own support package.
The volunteers have received extensive training for their role as informal advisers.
The helpline is in trial stage, and consists of several numbers that people can ring at different time-slots throughout the day. If the service is popular, it is expected to be relaunched at a later date with a single, 'silver' number.
- Find out more about the helpline in the Personal Budgets Helpline flyer, available to download from this page, or telephone 0789 1277 495.
