It is not always easy to identify who is or who isn’t a carer especially in relation to mental health, as many traditional ideas of the caring role are not always relevant. Mental health problems include common illness like depression and anxiety or enduring issues such as schizophrenia or bi-polar disorder.

Carers Support Team offer assessments, care plans, individual and peer support, training and education, individual support to carers of people with any mental illness and facilitate carers groups.

Alzheimer's Carers Support Service give support on an emotional and practical basis to carers and/or people with dementia.  Information and advice by phone or in person, home visits, ongoing support, benefits help, dementia cafes (with cared for person), carers groups, holiday grants.
