The average office worker sits behind a desk for 7 and a half hours a day. Because the longer your body stays still, the more tense you get, this is one of the reasons we all get so stressed in the office.
Feel Good Leeds have developed deskercise workouts to show you a few simple routines that you can do at your desk to improve flexibility, combat stress and give you a mental boost at work.
There’s no need for you to dress up in lycra or wear a headband. Just click on the link below and follow the steps in the video.

Feel Good Leeds: What is it?
Over the next twelve months we are teaming up with the Leeds PCTs to make Leeds a healthier city with the Feel Good Leeds campaign.
It has been developed following evidence that shows by doing just five pieces of physical activity a week you can dramatically improve your health, wellbeing and fitness.
Your five activities don’t have to be a trip to the gym or a sports activity, there’s lots of things you can do in everyday life that are just as good for you. Whatever you do as long as it gets your pulse racing and your muscles working, it all counts.
Washing the car, doing the housework or an hour gardening can all be just as beneficial as an aerobics class. You could even try combining the two. You could walk to your local leisure centre then go for a swim – easy, two activities done for the week!
At the launch in April hundreds of you made pledges of fitness in Leeds city centre, promising to do five pieces of activity a week. If you’re one of those that did, keep up the good work. If you’ve not made a pledge yet it’s not too late, why not resolve to walk the kids to school on a morning rather than drive them or do a fitness class each week. What you do is up to you, but remember, if we all join in we can help make Leeds a healthier place to live, work and study.
A bit of inspiration
Here’s five ways to help you feel good:
Be a good sport.
Take one up. Sport is a great way to exercise, and there are loads of clubs you can join. You could even let your boss beet you at a game of golf!
Get mowing.
Even everyday tasks can get you exercising. So, why not tame your turf and get healthy too.
Something to chew over.
A healthy diet can make you look and feel fantastic, and it’s really easy to eat better! Start with a banana in your lunch box.
Gym’ll fix it.
Bodyline gyms are great places to keep in shape! They’re really affordable and full of folk just like you. Visit www.leeds.gov.uk/bodyline for more details.
Don’t worry, be happy.
Emotional wellbeing is as important as physical health. If you’re down in the dumps, don’t bottle things up, chat to a friend. You know what they say, a problem shared is a problem halved.
