Supporting independent travel
Travel Trainer is part of the Disability Outreach & Travel Trainer Support Service (DOTTSS). It provides individual support to people who want to use public transport in the Leeds area.
This service is for adults over 18 who have:
- physical and /or sensory impairments
- learning disabilities
- mental health problems
... or anyone who wishes to gain the confidence to travel on buses or trains.
The service is for people whose eventual aim is to travel independently.
Orientation journeys are available to help build up knowledge of the city or local areas. There is also a facility for people to practice getting on and off the bus and manoeuvring into the wheelchair space while the bus is empty.
The service welcomes referrals from individuals as well as professionals.
