Children who go missing from care place themselves and others at risk. They go missing for a number of reasons and these are linked to their home circumstances and their experiences of care. If a child is missing we will work with other professionals to find them and try to work out why they left.
On this page you will find the procedures for dealing with a situation of a child who has gone missing or is out of contact for a period of time that gives cause for concern.
The procedures are a joint agreement between Social Services and the police.
