We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to live in a decent home but recognises that some home owners find it difficult to maintain their homes. We have developed a package of assistance to help the most vulnerable people overcome these obstacles and to live in a home that is safe, warm, waterproof and that has reasonably modern facilities.
Two levels of assistance are available to home owners depending on their circumstances:
Level 1 assistance is available to all applicants across the city and includes advice on maintenance issues.
Level 2 assistance is available to vulnerable applicants who are in receipt of certain means-tested and some non-means tested benefits. A home maintenance (equity) loan may be offered and applicants can be referred for energy efficiency grants which may be available.
An electronic version of the Home Improvement Assistance (HIA) application form can be downloaded from this page. For more information please telephone the Home Improvement Assistance Unit on 0113 214 9212 or 9213 or 9214 or email HIA@leeds.gov.uk or contact us at HIA Unit 2-5 Limewood Approach, Leeds LS14 1NG
