Mishka Rushdie Momen, at the age of six, became the youngest pupil ever to have been admitted to the Purcell School where she was a pupil of Ilana Davids. Mishka is a post graduate student at the Guildhall School of Music and has  studied with Imogen Cooper as her only student since 2006. She has also has periodic private lessons with Alfred Brendel.

In 2008 Mishka played in the Paul Lewis and Leslie Howard masterclasses at the Guildhall and in April 2009 she was selected to play in a show case masterclass to Lang Lang at LSO St Luke’s which was the opening event of his residency with the LSO.

Her debut solo recital was at the age of ten following which her concert experience includes most of London’s major venues including the Royal Festival Hall, Purcell Room, Barbican Centre, St Martin in the Fields, Steinway Hall, Regents Hall, Spencer House and Leighton House.

Details  

The Venue was opened in 2003 and is a dedicated recital hall for Leeds. The Venue seats 350. The Venue is equipped with an infra-red system for the hard of hearing. The Venue is located in Leeds' emerging cultural quarter, next to the West Yorkshire Playhouse and adjacent to Leeds College of Music. It is in the same building as the new BBC Yorkshire headquarters. One Bar Inn, the College's café bar, is open for lunch and early evening meals as well as pre-concert and interval drinks. It is located on level two of the main college building.

Access  

There is a lift at the front of the building to The Venue and disabled toilets in the foyer area. There is a designated disabled car park beside Leeds College of Music which has spaces for at least ten cars. 

Public transport  

The Venue is opposite Leeds Interchange Bus Station for all buses. From Leeds City Train Station turn right out of Leeds city station and turn right at the pelican crossing. Walk down Boar Lane and head for Kirkgate Market. At the markets walk down the side of the market on New York Street to the Bus Station. The Venue is found opposite the bus station.

Parking  

The nearest car park to The Venue is located on Quarry Hill and accessible from the A64 Inner Ring Road (direction West Yorkshire Playhouse). After 5.30pm parking is free. Blue Badge Holders can park in these car parks for free. Further information about Leeds City Council car parks can be obtained from Parking Services on 0113 395 0050.
