Free Summer Guided Tours

Kirkstall Abbey

11:00am - 4:00pm every weekend between 3 August 2013 and 28 September 2013.

Explore the ruins of Kirkstall Abbey with free weekend guided tours

Come and explore Kirkstall Abbey with our new volunteer tour guides. Our guides will take you around the 12th century ruin, explaining all about the different areas that remain, such as the Cloisters, the Church, the Infirmary and the Kitchen, bringing the abbey to life.

The free tours run throughout the day from 11am every Saturday and Sunday and last about three quarters of an hour. You do not need to book a place, simply come to the Visitor Centre where a guide will collect you.  The free guided tours will continue at the weekends in September.

Kirkstall Abbey is one of the most complete examples of a medieval Cistercian abbey in Britain.  Set in wonderful parkland along the banks of the River Aire, Kirkstall Abbey boasts historic architecture amid a haven of wildlife and greenery.
