The long term regeneration initiative for East Leeds, covering Gipton, Seacroft, Harehills, Halton Moor and Osmondthorpe, Lincoln Green, Burmantofts and Richmond Hill and reflecting investment in the neighbouring communities of Swarcliffe and Whinmoor.
The East Leeds Regeneration Programme aims to
- create sustainable mixed use communities
- make neighbourhoods places where people want to live and work and to tackle existing deprivation and overcome the negative perceptions of the area
- secure neighbourhoods' economic, social and environmental well-being
- work alongside communities to achieve their improvement priorities and involve residents in planning and monitoring
Leeds City Council's East Regeneration Team is dedicated to managing the planning and implementation of the regeneration programme, including the impact of creating new communities.
The Team works in partnership with a range of developers and housing providers to develop investment and support for the delivery of wider regeneration objectives.
In order to deliver these objectives, the Programme will focus on developing strategies for the next 15 - 20 years to tackle the issues that most affect peoples' quality of life - employment chances, housing, education and greenspace management.
