8th City Centre Audit
8th City Centre Audit

The 8th Leeds City Centre Audit is designed to assess the vitality, viability and performance of the city centre. Data relating to a range of indicators, together with the results of consultation with key stakeholder groups, has been used in compiling the audit. The key topics covered are:

  • Retail Trends
  • Pedestrian Flow
  • Movement
  • Office Market
  • Employment
  • Housing
  • Leisure and Tourism
  • Community Safety
  • Sustainability and the Local Environment

Most of the 8th Audit’s findings are positive, the retail sector is performing positively and confidence is relatively high, development continues apace especially in housing and the office market.  Employment levels continue to growth strongly as does the residential population and Pedestrian Flows have increased on the previous year.  Leeds has also risen one place to 5th in the CACI national rankings and has closed the gap with Manchester substantially.

There are negatives however. PKF describes the hotel market as underperforming compared to the national picture and parking issues have been highlighted by the market research to be of a real concern to residents and visitors.
